Authentic Shotokan Karate
Stratford Karate Club teaches JKA Shotokan Karate. A powerful and refined martial art, Shotokan Karate is much more than just a self defence system. It is also a great way to get fit, keep fit, instil discipline, and of course have fun. with our club being affiliated to the JKA we are a part of the oldest and most influential karate governing organisation around today.
One of the many benefits of choosing karate as your martial art is its incredibly diverse range of techniques including, strikes, blocks, kicks, sweeps, takedowns, and joint locks. They’re all included in karate. Train with us and you’ll get to experience them all.

At Stratford Karate Club we are proud of our clubs diversity. we have students of all ages genders and ethnicity. with students ranging from age 5 to 60+ weather you want to take up karate for yourself, your child, as a couples activity or as a family, our club has a place for you.

Our Chief Instructor
Our Chief instructor, Aaron Storey, is an experienced coach and competitor. He is an active member of the JKA England national team, current national champion and world medalist. Rest assured, students at Stratford Karate Club have the opportunity to learn from one of the best.

The Japan Karate Association (JKA)
Our club is affiliated to the Japan Karate Association. As a governing body, JKA England ensures its clubs offer the highest standard of training. Instructors are covered by Martial Arts insurance, Enhanced Disclosure Checks (DBS), and appropriate qualifications. JKA England also enables its instructors to improve their own karate, by running annual Instructor courses led JKA England chief instructor Ohta Sensei 7th Dan. ensuring JKA instructors keep up to date with refinements in technique directly from Japan.
JKA England organise karate courses all over the country, including 2 international weekend events. These courses include classes with the top karate masters from the Honbu dojo (HQ) from Japan.
